Project Plan Generator
Turn a goal and a deadline into a dated plan with phases, tasks and milestones.
1. Describe your project
2. Your project plan
The plan is built from proven templates in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored.
How to use it
- Pick the project type closest to yours. Each type has its own phases and tasks.
- Add a name, a one-line description and the goal. They are written into the plan and the milestones.
- Set a start date and a deadline. The tool splits the time between phases and dates every milestone.
- Copy the plan as Markdown, download it, or download a CSV you can import into a spreadsheet or task tool.
What goes into a good project plan
A project plan answers four questions: what you are building, why, by when, and in what order. This generator gives every plan the same structure:
- Phases: five stages from start to finish, each with a share of the schedule that suits the project type. Building or creating usually gets the largest share.
- Tasks: the concrete work inside each phase, written so someone can pick one up and start.
- Milestones: a dated checkpoint at the end of each phase. If a milestone slips, you know early that the deadline is at risk.
Treat the output as a first draft. Delete tasks that don't apply, add the ones only you know about, and put a name next to each task.
How the dates are worked out
The time between your start date and deadline is split by fixed weights per phase, for example 15% discovery, 15% design, 40% build, 15% testing and 15% launch for a software project. With working days on, weekends are skipped. Every phase gets at least one day, so very short projects may overlap; the tool warns you when that happens.
FAQ
How do I create a project plan?
Write down the goal and the deadline, split the work into phases, list the tasks in each phase, and set a dated milestone at the end of each one. Then give every task an owner and review the plan weekly. This tool does the first three steps for you.
Does this tool use AI?
No. It uses fixed templates and date maths in your browser, so the same inputs always give the same plan and nothing is uploaded.
Can I import the plan into Asana, Trello, Jira or a spreadsheet?
Download the CSV. It has one row per task with the phase, task, start date, due date and whether it is a milestone, which most task tools and spreadsheets can import.
What is the difference between a task and a milestone?
A task is work someone does. A milestone is a point in time that marks a phase as finished, such as "design approved". Milestones take no time themselves; they show whether you are on schedule.
